Everything ready … but no plants yet. So it was time to make habitat for the small creatures that would make the garden their home.
With much willing help, a toad hotel was made of stone and roofed with turf, making 5-star des-res full of nooks and underground hiding places for the amphibians that would soon move in.
Then it was to the making of bug houses from cut lengths of pipe, filled with dead plant stems for bees and other insects to crawl in for safety, and fixed to the fences.
And logs were left in a few piles to make a moist, rotting place for slaters, snails, worms and slugs.
Time to put in some plants …
