This is the beginning. A corner of a field between some polytunnels, fruit bushes and a barley trial. Early spring 2004 – clear skies, but thick, deep, waterlogged mud.
Gladys Wright had drawn out the design and with the farm was starting to get things measured, some tape put down to suggest the layout on the ground. The soil was not much good and there was no boundary. It takes vision!
Many people helped over the years with the Garden. These images taken by the (then) SCRI staff photographers, mainly Stuart Malecki, show some of what went on as plans for the garden were put into place
